Belinda's Biography
Upon leaving school, Belinda opted to attend Dunfermline College, where she gained a Bachelor of Education and began a career as a physical education teacher. Following a short lived spell in the teaching profession Belinda went on to a role in marketing at a telecommunications company. One of her clients was Dawson International and it was through this exposure that she became interested in the fashion industry.
Whilst working in the Scottish Borders, Belinda developed an interest specifically in the cashmere knitwear industry and her ambition became to give Scotland a ‘good glamour label’. Belinda recognised the potential of cashmere as a fashionable luxury item and, encouraged by a manufacturer, Belinda designed her first collection of cashmere couture. This was snapped up by the world-famous Burlington Arcade in London, and led to Belinda working with internationally famous fashion houses including Nina Ricci, Michael Kors and Dior.
Belinda has revolutionised design and production in a sector deep-rooted in tradition, and has successfully brought elegance, modernity and style to Scottish cashmere. The label Belinda set out to create almost 20 years ago has become a brand synonymous with pure luxury, exceptional quality and outstanding design; the finest cashmere in the world.
Over the years the Belinda Robertson brand, and Belinda herself, have both been awarded a number of accolades, including:
